Hey! You’ve probably seen me around…WAPI?
My name’s Ayana, but all my friends call me Aya, so please do too? I’ve been busy running around, discovering hidden gems for you, that’s probably ‘where’ you’ve seen me, uncovering local, ethical and unique! Want to know more about me? I wear many hats, which we’ll get to a little later. I’m a world traveler too, but when I arrived in Kenya and had a taste of some of the best this country had to offer, I thought, ‘Wow! It’s pulsing with such energy and vibe, this is where I want to live life.’ I dived right in and I haven’t looked back since.
Now, I’m really into one of a kind products and experiences, so I always head off the beaten path to see what I might unearth. I love the idea of handmade and artisanal; there are so many skilled and talented artisans here, making quality, unique products that are usable works of art. And I love the ethical aspect of it too, that I’m supporting an artisan or a community or both, by choosing their products and services. Eco-friendly? Don’t even get me started, I love nature, why else did I settle in the green city under the sun? I think cruelty-free, sustainable, recycled, up-cycled and natural are the way to go. Hmm, what else? I’m a total foodie, with a bit of a sweet tooth (cocoa comes from a tree, and sugar comes from cane, a plant…so don’t deny me my vegetables! ;-p ) Also, as much as I really want to discover these amazing places and the people behind them, I don’t just want to take you there, but to form a community of individuals who hear local, ethical and unique and immediately go, ‘Where?’
So friends, that’s me in a nutshell. Aya the discoverer, the seeker of unique! And I’m thrilled that you’re part of this community, coming on this exciting journey with me. Let’s go!… WAPI?
