Let’s talk about business. The highs and the lows. The moments that make it all worth it and the moments you want to quit, say screw it…
They say once you hit rock bottom, the only way is up. So let’s acknowledge the things we already know, business or entrepreneurship is not the easiest road to embark on. From internal challenges; self-doubt, work-life balance, motivation, pressure to fit into behavioural stereotypes i.e. be aggressive… to external challenges; limited access to funding, bias in the boardroom, lack of networks and advisers, issues with peer respect etc.
But…
Back in 2007 already women were running half of ALL small and micro entreprises (according to a World Bank report), so you can imagine the 11 year growth! The number of women entrepreneurs is visibly steadily on the rise…
Truth is, women are great at business! With high levels of EQ, a finely tuned bargaining ability, social networking skills especially communication, intuition, multi-tasking (well, some of the time anyway), team building skills, a high pain threshold… Equipped uniquely, they can and are winning at this game too!
This emerging business culture empowers women to define who they want to be and how they want to work, allows them to bridge the societal pay gap by paying their own salaries, lets them choose their own schedule to balance their career and life, enables them to pave the way for the next generation and make it that much easier…
There’s an undeniable community impact too, as women tend to have a social outlook in some aspect of their business, whether it be on the scale of uplifting their families or that of empowering the larger society, there’s a definite ripple effect when women begin to take their seats at the table.
Well? Let’s get down to business.
